Basiru Suso  is a professional musician, story teller and has lived in Denmark since 1997. He was born in Gambia and brought up in Mali. Like all  “griots,” the Suso family have been accomplished and reknowned for their kora playing for generations in West Africa.

The kora  is a harp like instrument with 21 strings which dates back atleast 600 years. It is oftened played at traditional ceremonies, like weddings and christenings.

Basiru plays world music, West African music, teaches African dance and is a story teller in the African tradition. He offers children and family workshops and school concerts. He plays in a duo with Inga Thommessen, or in a trio with bass and percussion and with dancers. He gives concerts at schools, institutions, libraries, festivals, private parties and concert halls.
